Flunk the Budget, Not Our Children
California State PTA is opposed to the governor’s 10% cut to education funding because it will harm our children. State PTA has developed informational materials and activity suggestions so every PTA member in the state can help stop these drastic budget cuts. PTA is the largest and most respected child advocacy group in California, and NOW is the time to make our voice heard!

The site is filled with great ideas to motivate all PTA members to take action to protect our children from these budget cuts. Every Unit and Council should vote to support the Resolution accessed from the web site. Every Unit and Council should choose at least one “Flunk-the-Budget Friday” activity to host. The Flunk the Budget web site is filled with facts and ideas to discuss with your legislator. Remember, the governor recommended the cuts – it will be up to the legislators to vote the cuts in. You elected the Assembly members and Senators – NOW is the time to let them know your thoughts on cutting education funding!
Welcome to the 23rd District PTA web site. Before you go any further we would like to answer a question that we hear all too frequently, "Who is 23rd District PTA?" The answer may surprise you:
23rd District is PTA at the county level. Chartered in 1927, we encompass all of Riverside County, California. We currently serve over 250 unit (school site) PTAs, within 10 council (school district/s) PTAs. We also serve out of council units in Banning, Beaumont, Blythe, Indio, Palm Desert, and Thermal. Together we are over 84,000 members strong. We have the pleasure and the responsibility of chartering new units and councils throughout the county. We act as a conduit for information flowing from the unit and council levels to the state level and vice-versa. We work in partnership with the Riverside County Office of Education, and provide parental input on a variety of issues.
The officers and chairman of 23rd District PTA work closely with our councils and out of council units to ensure that they have the training, mentoring, information, and guidance they need to be successful leaders and advocates. In turn, the councils provide these same services to their units.
This web site is only one of the tools we provide for the edification of our members. We also publish a bi-monthly newsletter, The Dateline that is sent to all unit presidents, school principals, council presidents, and school district superintendents at no cost, or can be purchased by subscription for anyone else. In addition, we coordinate attendance at the annual California State PTA convention each spring, and we host our own day of workshops on the first Saturday in June.
The 23rd District PTA board is made up of members from a variety of councils. They are exceptional leaders who have devoted many years of service to this organization. Take advantage of our collective knowledge by utilizing the tools that we provide both online and off.
